Major Activities and Achivements

We are working in the field of Environmental Conservation & Pollution Control, Environmental Education, Natural Resource Management, Community Health, Vocational Education, Women Empowerment & Child Development. Our own mandate of environmental conservation with a view to balance & sustainable development was coincidentally the same. We have undertaken research in environmental problems, lobbied State & Central Governments, exerted pressure on industrial houses, monitored the action of Government & Industries, build Political coalition in support of public policy and promoted public awareness of environmental problems. In 2004 a massive Yatra SAVE DAMODAR MOVEMENT (DAMODAR BACHAO ANDOLLAN) was conducted under the aegis of Yugantar Bharati from its origin point Chullhapani, Chandwa of Latehar District to the end where river falls in river GANGA to assess the water quality of the river, the aquatic flora & fauna and the pollution load of the river. It was a multi focal programme a mobile laboratory in the leadership of renown scientist PROF. R.K. SINHA, MEMBER, GANGA ACTION PLAN, Government of India was collecting & sampling water quality, sediments, aquatic flora & fauna for the study of pollution load in the river. In year 2005 similar exercise was done in river SUBARNAREKHA, called SUBARNREKHA PRADUSHAN ADHAYANN YATRA FROM its origin point Ranichuwa, Nagri, Ranchi District to Bharagora (Boarder line of Jharkhand & West Bangal state) In year 2006 year first state-wide WATER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN (JAL JAGRUKATA ABHIYAN) was conducted it begin from 14 January (Makar Sankranti) and ends in May-June (depending on the date on which Ganga Dashara falls). Now it is organised every year. During this campaign Seminar, Workshop, River Water Quality Survey and other Social-Cultural activities are taken up. We have invited people from Planning commission, Government of India, Scientist from different key institution of the country, intellectuals and water activists like Magsaysay awardee SRI RAJANDER SINGH from Rajasthan; SRI ANUPAM MISHRA Secretary General, GANDHI PEACE FOUNDATION, New Delhi; Padmshree awardee PROF. SE HASNAIN, VICE CHANCELLOR, HYDERABAD UNIVERSITY ; SRI U.N. PANJIYAR, IAS, Secretary, MINISTRY OF WATER RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT, Government of India; DR. V.L. CHOPRA, Member, PLANNING COMMISSION, Government of India; DR. S. KUMAR, Director, Indian INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE, Bangalore; DR. R. CHALLAPATTI RAO, Deputy Director, NEERI, Nagpur; DR. RN SHARAN from North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong and other renowned dignitaries were the main speakers. ANALYTICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING LABORATORY was established in year 2006. It is now accredited by JHARKHAND STATE POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD (JSPCB) & we are now in process to get accreditation from MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT & FOREST (MoEF), Government of India. SCHOOL FOR ECOLOGY & ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT (SEEM) has been setup to conduct relevant studies and appropriate research work with a view to sustainable development. SEEM is organising short term training courses for students, research scholars, teachers on a regular basis. WATER QUALITY MONITORING We are regularly monitoring the water quality of river Damodar & Subarnarekha. In addition to monitoring water quality, nearly 20 lake/ponds have been monitored for the quality. We are planning to draw a road-map of drinking water sources of Jharkhand State. We have done Bio-diversity survey of Saranda forest in year 2006. We have monitored Harmu river water quality & made a road map of the encroachment of the river bed. AMBIENT AIR MONITORING We have done city Ambient Air Quality monitoring of Ranchi, we are now planning to draw a road-map of all major city of Jharkhand State. SOUND LEVEL MONITORING We have done Noise level monitoring of Ranchi city with association Times of India & Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board HEALTH CHECKUP CAMPS We are regularly organising Health checkup camps in rural area of Jharkhand with the h
