Major Activities and Achivements

Aaranyak has been working for the environment conservation in NE India through total 7 different programmes, namely (a) North East Threatened Species Conservation Programme, (b) Water, Climate and Hazard Programme, (c) Wildlife Genetics Programme, (d) Environment education and capacity building programme, (e) Geo-spatial technology application programme, (f) Community based conservation programme, and (g) Legal and advocacy programme. Under North East Threatened species conservation programme, Aaranyak has total 6 different initiatives, viz., (a) Rhino research and conservation initiative, (b) Tiger research and conservation initiative, (c) Elephant research and conservation initiative, (d) Gangetic dolphin research and conservation initiative, (e) Primate research and conservation initiative, (f) Herpetofauna research and conservation initiative, through which Aaranyak has been contributing significantly to the conservation of these highly threatened mega-fauna of North East India. Within last 25 years of its existence Aaranyak has been providing significant contribution in the wildlife and environment conservation of the region through these programmes and initiatives with a group of dedicated and highly qualified biologists and educators.
