Tamilnadu state social welfare BoardState2013-201444424With the support of Tamil Nadu State Social Welfare Board and a few individuals from Austria run five Balwadis (Day Care Centre for Kids) in five tribal villages of Palani Hill ranges. Later on, four centres were adopted by the Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) under Tamil Nadu State Government in the year 2007 – 2008. Through the programme enabled the children to acquire basic education with nutritious support and health care.
Heks international Overseas2013-2014789782ACT India Foundation conducted group discussions with the parents of the tribal children to strengthen their education. Some parents showed their inclination in strengthening the education of their children, but they exposed that the children commuting between home and school are having transport difficulties and not safe for them to travel long distance in the forest. Considering this fact, the Vanavil Tribal Children Home was established in a rental building at Pannaikadu in 1998.
CEPFOverseas2013-2014572977Priority Species and Sites Protection In collaboration with ATREE – CEPF SG Programme, ACT India Foundation has implemented activities that are necessary to protect priority species and sites in the Palani Hills, Western Ghats, since 2009. ACT India Foundation has worked among 20 tribal hamlets on protecting the threatened species (Grizzled Giant Squirrel) and establishing / maintaining canopy cover area and linkages to corridors
Heks InternationalOverseas2014-2015152324 There are 28 children from 10 tribal hamlets, who finds difficult in accessing the formal education due to their geographical location and family background, benefiting from it. These children stay in the home and study in the nearby schools. They are given life education and skill training to face the mainstream society, access the formal education and preserve their traditional knowledge and wisdom.
CEPFOverseas2014-2015217500MFP / NTFP Collectors: As part of livelihood activity, the tribal collect ‘Lieckens’, a kind of parasite plant growing on the trees, which is used as a spice in food and preparation of vegetable dyes. When they collect it from the trees, the tribal remove the upper skin of the trees, which cause the damage to the life of the trees. Like this, there are so many damages made by the tribal without awareness of what they do, while collecting their livelihood.
Individual Overseas2014-201588951It is a place for encouraging the tribal children, who attend the formal education, in order to cope with the formal education in an effective way. There were five centres in five villages. Each centre had an Animator to look after the children, who attend the centre in the evening from 5.00 to 7.00.They start with playing their traditional and creative games for one hour. Then they will take coaching of their formal education and do the home works.
CBCOverseas2015-20161891122The children home will improve educational opportunities for the tribal children who are deprived of their right to education. It is mainly Because of the absence of a school in approachable distance. The tribal are treated as untouchables by the dominant communities .They was not permitted to attend schools and sit in par with the children of other communities. As a result the tribal showed no interest in educating their wards.
ARSISEOverseas2016-2017663581HEKS’s support: HEKS supports to work on RFRA – 2006 in 10 tribal hamlets, where the children of foster care programme come from. Community based programmes, including educational meetings, and other activities are carried out to strengthen these communities in achieving their rights provided in this Act.All the previous Acts have ignored and stood against the existence of tribal in the forest. This is the first Act of its kind, which has recognised and supported the tribal.
