AchieveMents: Three years back it all started with a thought, a thought for art. It all began with a dream, a dream to promote art. Today, it is a reality, a reality that grows each day in the form of Artscapes, a non profit, non government organization, which promotes, supports and provides a platform to foster excellence in various dimensions of art. Artscapes aims to bridge the void that exists between artists and art lovers by providing a range of shows, events, seminars, camps and workshops. Our hugely successful ventures include Art Exhibition organized at Punjab Arts Council, Chandigarh in January, 2011. The exhibition was inaugurated by Justice MMS Bedi, Punjab & Haryana High Court. An Indo Canadian Art Exhibition Confluence was organised in November 2011. It successfully brought together 43 artists from across the country and Canada. Chief guest Justice Ajay Tewari inaugurated the event, which had Scot Slessor, Consul General of Canada, as the guest of honour. Artscapes held a Jugalbandi Fusion Nite with Salil Bhatt and an exhibition at Park Plaza in Chandigarh in June 2012. An art event, Freedom of Expression, was organised by Artscapes to mark Canadas 145th birthday on July 1, 2012. Several young and senior artists from Chandigarh came together to paint a massive live canvas expressing their ideas extempore. Many well known people, including Justice MMS Bedi, Baltej Dhillon, the first turbaned Sikh to be admitted to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Manohar Lal, Principal, Govt. College of Art, Chandigarh, Jodh Singh et al took part in the exhibition. In March 2012, we held the first All India Women Artists Exhibition 2012. The exhibition was a confluence of women artists from all over the country. This unique, first of its kind, exhibition in the region was a source of inspiration for all aspiring women artists and provided them a platform to showcase their creations. 820 works of art were received out of which 146 were scrutinized. The responsibility of judging the best works was entrusted to veteran artist Shobha Broota who went into each minute detail and rewarded the best among the best. Winning artists were given cash awards amounting Rs 1.26 Lac. Certificates of merit were also presented. In association with Times Group and Chandigarh Police, Artscapes hosted the IGP Invitational Golf tournament, one of the biggest events in North India. It was a perfect blend of golf and glitz. The inaugural tournament was held in March 2012 at the Chandigarh Golf Club with a number of celebrities, including Sunny Deol, Abhay Deol, Sanjay Dutt, Kirron Kher, Mark Boyle, Kathryn Olympian Milkha Singh, Jeev Milkha, Arjuna awardee Harmeet Kahlon and Golfer Gurbaaz Mann, taking part. As part of our endeavours, Artscapes, launched Ludhiana Art Beat in November 2012 to identify, recognise and promote talented artists in Ludhiana.
