AchieveMents: Ours is a non governmental and non profitable voluntary organization working for the upliftment of the rural downtrodden. We work in Acharapkkam block of Kanchipuram, District, Tamilnadu. In tune with our objectivites we have so far implemented the following programs.We are working for the past 10 years. As a result of our implementation of the programs we are well identified by the Government authorities and the people. Our main program is running of the home for the destitute aged, this program is financially assisted by the Government of India, Ministry of Scocial justice and Empowerment. The home is located in Perumberkandigai village,Acharapakkam block of Kanchipuram District.The home is housed in a spacious rental building. It is a nice village with good environment. There are at present 40 old aged persons in the home taken care of They are given free food, accommodation, clothes and medicare.They take shelter in the home in a very pathetic condition. Once they are admitted in the home, they are free from their mental agony. They feel secure. They lead their life very peacefully. They have recreation facilities. Also they are engaged in a very light work such as gardening. The financial assistance given the Government is not suffice. It is also managed through donations from the donors. There are social workers and nurses to take care of them. One warden is also staying with them to attend to their needs They are given counselling through qualified counsellors Before making donations, donors are invited to visit the home to make an assessment of the conditions. They are satisfied and are happy to donate their mighty. The organization owns a vacant site to the extent of for the purpose of constructing a building to house the home. But the construction work can not be taken up for want of funds. Though project proposal has been submitted to Government of India for more than once no fruitful result is seen. We are making our sincere efforts with the recommendation of the State Government. Apart from the pure vegetarian food, the old aged persons are given free medical treatment through qualified doctors. Medicines are procured and kept ready to meet their needs. For their eye defects, necessary operations are carried out in Private hospital. Follow up treatment is also given to them. By serving the destitute old aged, we feel that we are satisfied to see that we are somewhat leading our life usefully. To serve the old aged means serving the god. Facilities available in the home: Recreation room, reading room, meditation ,in door games.
