AchieveMents: Major Achievements When the Federation was accorded the recognition in 2012 after suspension of 02 years, the Federation impressed upon the Sports Authority of India to open the state of Art the IG Cycling Velodrome, which was lying idle after the commonwealth Games. The World Class velodrome, which is legacy of Commonwealth Games, was made operational by the Federation and put to use on a regular basis and thus the new era of competitive cycling emerges on the Indian Cycling Scene. 1. SAINCA: The Federation in a joint venture with SAI and under an MOU established the Cycling Academy under the name and style of SAI National Cycling Academy, which was inaugurated on 05.03.2014. The aim and object being to train the cyclists from the age group of 14th to 16th year with latest training methods and groom them to International level and with the vision of prepare and get them qualify for 2020 Olympics. The Federation inducted the cyclists at the age group of 14th to 16th year from across the Country by holding trails on the same day and with common entrance test at 18 centres. The trails were conducted jointly with the representative of SAI and state cycling Associations and the results were put on the website on the same day with the points secured by each candidates. With complete transparency and subsequently inducted 50 cyclists after due medical examination and free boarding and lodging were provided and the Federation made special arrangements for their education. They are being trained with latest scientific methods with providing adequate gymnasium facilities have a workshop and with all support staff of physiotherapist, masseur, mental trainer dietician etc. A battery of experienced coaches under the guidance and supervision of Sh. Amar Singh, Arjuna Awardee and Sh. R K Sharma, International qualified coach from World Cycling Centre, Aigle, Switzerland and imparting training to these cyclists. 2. World Cycling Centre: To improve and train the Indian Cyclists up to the International level the Federation has opened a Satellite Centre of the World Cycling Centre, Aigle, Switzerland operated by International Cycling Union (UCI) at Cycling Velodrome, New Delhi. The WCC is providing coaching course at this centre to improve the standard of cycling and to provide equipment in term of cycles and scientific backing in shape of Watt Bikes, which is the latest scientific training machine for the cycling. With the results of these facilities, the Indian Cycling scene has been extremely transformed and has shown tremendous improvement in terms of timings and medals at the Various International level events. To sum up the Indian cyclists, who were ranked at 149th out of 185 Countries in 2013 has shown great improvement has resulted in the ranking at the World level. In the latest World ranking of the UCI, our junior team sprint team in Men junior division is ranked at No. 1, whereas Ms. Deborah a cyclist in the Senior Women Section has attain the 4th Rank in the Time Trial event. The team has resulted in qualification for the World Cup for the first time in the history of the Cycling in the Country, which means are well on track for the qualification of 2020 Olympics, which was the aim of the Federation.
