AchieveMents: Ours is an organization dedicated to the welfare of the handicapped section of the handicapped section of the society. This association established in 1995 has ceaselessly been working for the uplift of the impaired and the downtrodden. The EVAD has engaged itself in the activities which spread from cradle to the grave. Apart from major activities different personalized services related to the mentally retarded, the hearing challenged, visually impaired and the orthopedically handicapped prominently figure amongst others
The organization has been running school for the deaf-dumb, mentally retarded and blind since 1995. Regular classes up to 5th standard are held except Sundays and festival holidays. To accomplish this task of educating the disabled special educators, teachers, speech therapist, physiotherapist has been appointed. The students who complete their education up to the 5th standard from this school are admitted to some nearby normal schools to continue their studies without any interruption. In this connection requisite help or assistance of trained teachers are available to other normal schools also.
Speech therapy to remove the deficiency in speech, Speech Therapists has been appointed. They attend the mentally retarded, blind and deaf-dumb to correct or rectify any problem. With the help of different equipments and techniques the speech problem is sorted out and corrected. The students learn to pronouns from the alphabet to words and sentences fluently.
Physiotherapy has also been introduced in addition to other activities with the expertise and assistance of physiotherapist different defects in holding grips, movements, touch and others are set right. There is a provision of hostel for the handicapped children who cannot come to school to attend the classes regularly. At present 25 handicapped students are enjoying the hostel. Poverty stricken children shoes parents are unable to afford for smooth education, food and transport are given priority in admission to the hostel. These students are provided with all the requisite facilities such as- reading-writing materials, school uniforms, opportunities for picnics/excursions to holy places and historical monuments. Services of library, tutorial classes at evening besides accommodation and food. A Tailoring Unit has been established for handicapped women. Trade/diploma holderââ¬â¢s ladies are appointed to teach the handicapped women tailoring. They themselves prepared lady suits, blouse etc. with all the necessary activities of stitching. This unit has proved helpful for the women after completing the training they also earn their livelihood and take care of their families and dependents. Apart from the activities mentioned above we are also giving computer training to the handicapped students. Elementary knowledge of handling computer and different uses of computer are imparted. The students play games, solve different problems do various exercises on computers. This has been an entertaining programme for the children.
