AchieveMents: Jan Sarokar started its intervention with creating awareness on environment, importance of education of children especially girl child.Gender equity and violence against women is concern which was taken to work unitedly at state level through a joint group formed for the purpose under the name Jumav Manch (Jharkhand Mahila Vikas Manch) formed on 25th Nov2000, day marked as International day for Violence against women under the guidence of Oxfam India Trust. The main emphasis was to experiement in 10 villages to implement the work and share the learning at State level from across the partners and formulate new strategies. Also Oxfam launched a Campaign at South Asia level across 6 countries on WE CAN END VIOLENCE WOMEN. First South Asia level regional conference was attended at Colombo in Mar 2006 to share the experience and learnings to be adopted for future program for socially excluded groups. Many IEC materials recieved from the central level used for spreading awareness and creating more that six thousand change makers in Giridih district by the organisation in the period of 5 yrs. More that 50 self help groups formed by the organisation with DRDA under SGSY program. 60 participants provided with bamboo craft and pattal making trade training. Organisation worked with JSACS on Targeted Intervention Project in Giridih district on HIV/AIDS among Truckers, FSW etc. also worked with UNODC on awareness generation on drugs among the school students & community for which baseline survey was done pre & post on knowledge about drugs. The organisation also provide support services to other NGOs & dept GOJ on training, documentation and impact assessment etc in the past.
