AchieveMents: The scheme of Jan Shikshan Sansthan is a unique scheme crafted by the Government of India with a challenging mandate of providing vocational education, life enrichment education and literacy. The Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Cuttack was established in November 1985 at Paradeep as Shramik Vidyapeeth, which has been renamed as Jan Shikshan Sansthan(JSS) in April, 2000. During last 28 years it has organized varieties of courses- from candle and paper packet making to Air Condition mechanism, Computer courses. The courses are tailor made as per the requirement of the target group. Besides the vocational courses it also organized awareness programmes, Life Enrichment Education, Literacy linked vocational training etc. Vocational Education • Programmes involving skills/practical applications leading to income generation Other Activities • Demonstration/Exhibition/Audios • Talks/Meetings • Melas/ Jathas/ Street theatre • Celebrations/Observations of Important Days Entrepreneurship Development • Rural Entrepreneurship Development programme • Skill linked Entrepreneurship Development Prgramme Follow-up • Follow-up of ex trainees and guidance • Exhibitions of products prepared by trainees Outcome The JSS organize quality programme for the identified target group to generate capabilities in them for employment, self-employment, and generation of additional income. The JSS programme also improve the following among the trainees • self-confidence • widen the range of knowledge • understanding of the social, economic and political systems • Empowering women ACHIEVEMENT Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Cuttack was conferred with NLMA-UNESCO AWARD – 2010 for the outstanding achievements in the field of Skill Development.
