Major Activities and Achivements
Jetor is a completely unknown unexposed unrecognized unlisted backward primiting community living in the boarder area of west Bengal in Paschim Medinipur. Number of Jetor people is more than one and half lakh. This jetor community is discovered by Dr. Nirmalendu De through research work under Calcutta University. unJetors belong to a community dwelling for below the poverty line and social sanction. Traces of primitive culture can still be found in their life style. Although unexpected, they have a rich source of cultural fables and myths. They have their favourite festivals where the roots of their culture can be traced back. They are basically landless labours. Most of them are illiterate. They are untouchable to a large section of the society. our organization since its foundation has tried to improve their deplorable condition. Its major activities, achievements and objectives are given below. The purpose of this society is to improve all round quality of the communities like JETORE Sc. ST and OBC and to continue the research about them. Therefore, this society had organized the following activities in the last three years like other years. 1. It had been continued the research about the backwardpeople of JETOR and other folk societies. 2. Literacy Programme had been taken in the last three years for the all round improvement of the quality. 3. Blood Donation Camp had been organized each year. 4. Awareness Camp had been taken up for increasing their awareness. 5. Health Check up Camp had been organized as ususal for the improvement of the health of the neglected HARIJAN. 6. Practice and competition programmes on games and sports were taken like previous years. 7. The steps had been taken to hold the fairs on occasion of various kins of PARABS such as Tusu Bhadu Baram, Karam, Bandhna, Chhata, Indh etc and at the same time the programme on Chhou Dance, Kathi Dance, Jhumur Dance had been performed. 8. Moreover, books and dresses are distributed to the poor students food and dresses are also distributed to the poor aged persons. 9. Besides steps had been taken in time to solve various problems and difficulties such as shelter of homeless persons, treatment and funerals. All possible steps are taken for the people of down trodden stratum of the society for their up gradation. Major objectives 1. Foundation of educational institutions and supply books, papers and dresses to children under the schemes of Sarba Siksha Avijan S.S.A. National Literacy Programme. 2. Organization of Health Checkup and Health awareness cames and providence of medical help, medicine and food to the inhabitants. 3. Improvement of cultural background. 4. Ensure supply of drinking water, road and dwelling house. 5. Preservation of cultural cum religious beliefs and my this and eradication of superstition and blind beliefs. 6. Abolishment of drinking habits among the inhabitants. 7. Organization of employment 8. Promotion of plantation and ecopreservation. 9. Promotion of sanitary habits establishment of toilets and latrines. 10. Foundation of library. To improve their socio cultural and economic status our Endeavour will be fruitful if we can provide them with official sanction of schedule cast. Otherwise they will continue to live under bondage forever in this independent country. At last in Rabindranath Tagores wards we appeal to the authority for the welfare of each person belonging to the Jetor Community. We need food, Life, Light and free air, We need vigour, health, joyous and bright life.
