AchieveMents: Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara University, also known as JSS University, is a deemed university located in Mysore, Karnataka. It was established in 2008 under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 and is part of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, which runs a variety of educational institutions. Under the leadership and gracious Patronage and blessings of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji , the Chancellor of JSS University and Vice Chancellor, Dr.B. Suresh, a noted multifaceted leader in India, this deemed-to-be university is recognized by both MHRD and NAAC at A Grade, has been focusing more on teaching, research and service, from its inception. Teaching: JSS University is focused on medical and health-related studies, and comprises JSS Medical College, JSS Dental College, JSS College of Pharmacy, the Department of Water and Health, Department of Health System Management Studies and Department of Life Sciences. Thus, JSS University cater Medical, Dental and Pharmacy professionals with knowledge, skills and competencies at global standards with imbibed core values of respect, professionalism, leadership and social responsibilities to meet the health care needs of mankind. Renowned as a destination of learning, research and service the reputation of JSS University has become synonymous with quality education in India and abroad. Research: University has a sharp focus on attracting the best researchers and research students, and on providing them with comprehensive support and motivation. The University combines leading medical research and compassionate patient care to face the world’s most pressing medical challenges. Extensive research studies are being carried out which have a wide ranging impact in the area of management of various communicable and non-communicable diseases. Some of the work done are around, Cancer Stem Cells, Cancer Drug Discovery and Pharmacogenomics, Identification of therapeutic targets, Diabetes Mellitus, cardiovascular diseases, and many more. The research outputs have supported high impact publication in premier scientific journals and have contributed new knowledge to the understanding of newer drugs, therapy and treatment through innovations and patent. Service: JSS Hospital is one of the India’s biggest hospitals (1800 beds) catering to the health care needs of Mysore and the surrounding population. It is a non-profit hospital and is dedicated to serve the poor and downtrodden with affordable and quality healthcare. The motto of the hospital is to uphold the value of human life and provide advanced and affordable healthcare to all sections of the society. Achievements: JSS University is recognized by national and international agencies. Currently the University is recognized by (a) MHRD (is a ranking system not a grading system, Provide year of ranking) and NAAC at A Grade; (b) Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), USA certification for Pharm-D program; and (c) National Board of Accreditation (NBA, NABL) and ISO-9001:2008. Other notable recognitions include: (a) TIFAC-CORE in herbal drugs approved by DST; (b) BA/BE center approved by DCGI; (c) Drug Testing Laboratory approved by State Government; (d) Faculty Training Centre, Industry Institution Interaction Cell, Entrepreneurship Cell approved by AICTE; and (e) Centre for Advanced Drug Research and Testing (CADRAT) approved by Drug Controller General of India
