AchieveMents: ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE ASSOCIATION
Lalit Kala Sangam is one of the leading State Level Cultural Organizations of Manipur dealing with Music, Dance, Drama and Visual arts. Since its inception in 1989 it has been functioning as the apex body with patronage of Performing Art Lovers & its Members of the State, for preserving and promoting the vast intangible heritage of the diverse culture expressed in the form of performing arts. In furtherance of its objectives the Association tries to afford and encourage better education in performing arts by establishing institutions and by organizing concerts, conferences, plays, competitions, workshop and also publishing periodicals & books. Moreover to harbour a spirit of unity in the sphere of performing arts and to keep relation and friendship with other organizations of similar aims & objects of the state and beyond.
The main activities of the Sangam are carried out through various means
1) Teacher Training cum Orientation Programme conducted with an objective of effective teaching since 2003. Participants are given course completion certificates and prizes annually.
2) So far the Lalit Kala Sangam has open and run six Music Institutions of Hindustani Classical Music at four Districts of Manipur State at different Districts : Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishnupur. Lalit Kala Sangam Music Institute is affilliated to the Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwa- Vidyalaya, (IKSVV) Khairagarh (C.G.) and students are appearing annual Examinations conducted by the said University since 2010.
3) With a view to promote cultural activities, the Lalit Kala Sangam has also initiated Lecture cum Demonstration Programme of Indian Classical Music as well as Traditional & Folk Music at several places of the State since 1990. These types of programme were held successfully at Andro, Imphal East District, at Shamurou, Thoubal District and at Nambol, Bishnupur District etc. 4) Vadyabrinda of the Association also performed at many State Level Festivals organized by Govt of Manipur. Other multi-cultural programmes had also given in various places of Imphal and other towns of the state.
5) Regular performances of Sugam Sangeet is also giving in the A.I.R. Imphal & DDK, Imphal. Students of Lalit Kala Sangam Music Institute has also performed Group & Individual Songs at AIR & DDK, Imphal. The performing Group of the Association performing rregularly at the AIR and DDK Imphal
6) Sankirtana Group of this Association initiated in the year 1999 with a formal function at KAINA Govindajee Temple and giving regular performances in various ritual ceremonies and functions held at different parts of the State.
7) Published (a) books on Manoharsai Kirtana in 2004 and thereafter revised editions (b) Sheishak Sheidam Vol I, a text book on Folk Song, Devotional & Patriotic Songs with Sargam Notation in 2008.
8) Music Competitions & Music Workshops are arranged annually since 1990.
