AchieveMents: Aakanksha started on 2nd October 1994, as a special school for the mentally challenged with 14 pwsn and one special educator. Presently there are 71 personnel including Special Educators and supporting staff catering to 267 Special children (including 85 children at Special School, 77 students in its Rural Intervention Services, Dharsiwa block, 78 in OPD, 27 children with deafblindness in SENSE Project ) covering all types of disabilities which include Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Deafblindness, Multiple disabilities etc. Initially it was offering only D.Ed- M.R course, but now it is offering D.Ed- V.I, and B.Ed. Spl.- M.R for training of special educators. We are offering therapeutic services through full-fledged physio , speech and occupational therapy unit. Sense International India has assigned the status of Regional Learning Cemtre for Deafblindness covering five states i.e Oddisa, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar.
