AchieveMents: The state-wide Geo-portal which was unveiled by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra is also commissioned to enable e-governance and g-governance in the state by understanding the user requirements. MRSAC initiative to assign a Scientist of MRSAC with the responsibility of a Department, as Guardian Scientist, has off late showing dividend. Geo-portal is now showcasing the wealth of databases generated by MRSAC during the 27 years journey of MRSAC and understanding the needs of various user departments with the anchor role played by Planning Department. Apart from the various state-wide application projects viz. Space based Information Support for Decentralized Planning (SIS-DP) for rural development, Forecasting of Agriculture outputs through Satellite, Agro-meteorology and Land based observations (FASAL), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), Development of Integrated Information System / Geo-portal, GEOMIN-Geology and Mining Information System, GIS Based Mapping for Rural Road Network Data for PMGSY Scheme,IWMP project – Vasundhara State Level Nodal Agency (VSLNA), MRSAC has taken the initiative to assist the various departments with the Mobile based applications for online/real-time data assimilation, view and analysis on web portal. Configuration of ArcGIS Server for GIS – State data bank and deployment of Geo-portal application developed by MRSAC on web, with other major technical and administrative activities completed to strengthen the Centre and gear up for future challenges to enhance the IT infrastructure and to meet the demands of e-governance.
