AchieveMents: PRAVAH is a non-profit voluntary organization , registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860. It avails tax exemption status under sections 12A of Income Tax Act and eligible of receiving grants und Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA). PRAVAH was founded by a team of young social activists inspired by the values and movement of Jaiprakash Narain and Ram Manohar Lohia for a equitable just society. The organization started its development mission from 10 villages of Sarawan block in Deoghar district to improve the condition of vulnerable target groups especially women and children of tribal and dalit communities. Gradually Pravah consolidated its development initiatives through programmatic abilities and its rapport with the local community. While working with the poor communities hunger and poverty have been two key issues of organizational intervention and most of its programs are aimed to alleviate poverty and increasing food availability for the majority in a sustainable manner. Since the period of inception the organization works with the disadvantaged communities to improve livelihood opportunities and create an enabling environment for them to live with dignity. Over the period of past two decades as a learning organization PRAVAH has developed its skill, experience and efficiency in community mobilization process, community based natural resource management, livelihood, agriculture, local self governance, education, policy advocacy and community health interventions. Since the past decade PRAVAH has focused its approach to water based development and believes that in Jharkhand effective use of water sources is key to the livelihood of the people. The organization is backed up by a vibrant governing body, competent team of workers and expert advisers from different areas of specialization. It has good field presence in form of more than 150 self help groups, 26 gram sabha and other community based organizations. The organization has good working relation with different line department, government agencies, resource groups and civil society organizations across the state of Jharkhand .
