Rural Agro Research and Development Society Key Issues and Operational Areas, Major Activiities & Achivements

AchieveMents: Our organization is implementing Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) – A cent percent granted plan scheme of ICAR, New Delhi since 1992 at Mundra, Dist. Kutch of Gujarat. We developed local elite varieties of dateplm plants by establishing Datepalm Tissue Culture Laboratory at Mundra of Kutch district. The organization was recognized with Plant Protection Community Souvenir Award 2012 by Plant Protection Varieties and Farmers’ Right Authority (PPV & FRA), New Delhi for outstanding work of conservation & dissemination of local elite datepalm Germplasm for serving farming community. We developed PVC Hand pollinator to pollinate female flowers of date trees without climbing on trees having thorny leaves. The organization was awarded by plast India foundation, Mumbai with Plast India Award 1997 for best use of plastic in Agriculture. As the water conservation is the priority thrust area of the organization, we implemented 22 watershed area development projects covering about 12.50 thousand hectare land to conserve natural water resources through the financial assistance of District Watershed Development Unit. The organization constructed 14 Roof Top Rain Water Harvesting structures in village schools buildings in Mundra and Mandvi talukas of Kutch district. Our organization built up 07 medium size check dams on different 05 rivers of Mundra, Mandvi and Anjar talukas of Kutch district through the financial help of Water and Sanitation Management Organization of Gujarat state. In 2001, the earthquake rehabilitation works like renovation, retrofitting, new housing construction and temporarily shelters were done by the organization in surrounding villages in physical and financial coordination with TVS Shrinivasan Memorial Trust, Channai, HDFC and Plast India Foundation, Mumbai. The organization has well equipped soil & water testing laboratory, Dairy and farm demonstration unit and Custom Hiring Center of farm machineries for serving farmers of surrounding villages. Our organization is continuous supporting the Prime Minister Swatchh Bharat Abhiyan through preparation of Toilet blocks in surrounding villages of nearby talukas of Kutch district with some financial support.
