AchieveMents: We are focused on participatory system through capacity building, knowledge sharing, Linkages and advocacy of the focused group. We have got the support from USAID, JICA, MoEF, SIFPSA, HLFPPT, CURE and Government of Uttar Pradesh. Our interventions are concentrated on Environmental Conservation (Waste re-use, solid waste management, community involvement in operation of community based sanitation assets, knowledge building, trainings, demotivating open defecation, awareness, river conservation, water conservation and management, conservation of natural assets), Better health for all (hygienic living conditions, RCH, better health services to rural areas and awareness), Livelihoods (promotion of self employment, youth empowerment, best utilization of available natural and man-made resources.) Tourism Promotion (community tourism, village tourism, promotion of our traditional values and culture). While working in communities we have established some indicators in the field of environmental conservation. In an water concern project supported by JICA and implimented by UPJN, we are working in Agra city. In some communities we have formed women livelihood groups. Initially the group was involved with livelihoods activities only, with the regular counseling this group have started looking after most of the community concern problems such as water lodging problem in the community, maintenance of community toilet, waste collection etc. now the group use to write the letters to the local administration for resolving the community based issues. In another community we have involved the youth group in the maintenance of parks and community toilets. Initially the youth group was not agreed with our views. With trainings, workshops and regular meetings, some youth members started their positive reflection and came with us. In the starting they have done a survey for knowing the position of community based sanitation assets. After the survey they have written letters to the local administration for renovation of community toilets and collected money for plantation in the garden of local community. A small community information centre has been opened in the community. Now the group of working actively for the development of community. We have organized various activities for generating awareness in the communities for demoralizing open defecation. Various community members have constructed house hold toilets. The names of the communities are NAGLA POPA, NAGLA CHHAUA, NAGLA FAQUIRCHAND, SUNDER PADA etc. While working on the project of USAID and CURE, we have assisted the CURE for developing Heritage Walk with the involvement of local community. The main objective of this walk is to create livelihoods opportunities to the local youth through tourism, promotion of community tourism, environmental conservation. In this project a team of local youth has been developed through various capacity building sessions. This team works as tour animators. They assist the tourist along the HERITAGE WALK. The main attractions of the walk are local handicraft, historical monuments, natural surroundings and the local stories. Now the walk has been adopted as one of the best practices.
