AchieveMents: The major activities of the unit are to produce original plays written by eminent Indian playwrights and/or adaptation of foreign writers in any language of the world. We belive, group theatre is serving the society through its play productions. Our main purpose is to educate people through amusement. Our aim and object is to make people aware of the economic deprivation, their rights and also to educate the masses through our play productions. Keeping in view the above we have so far produced a few plays of Rabindranath Tagore and plays written by Shri Mohit Chattopadhyay, an eminent playwright and thinker of our time. We have successfully produced ‘Ring’ and ‘Saral Anka’ by Shri Mohit Chattopadhyay. The productions have been highly acclaimed by the audience, critics and elites of the society. The renowned educationist and play critic, Shri Dipendu Chakraborty has specially discussed about the above mentioned productions and highly praised the content and presentation of the productions in his critical analysis in Desh Patrika. It is our intention and endeavor to find out the form, which is indigenous and Indian for that we are working to explore the possibilities of our folk art of different regions. We are also working with un-privileged classes to have an understanding about their wants, means of living etc. since our country consists mainly of the people of rural India. We would like to include in our productions their lives and livelihood. Since our above work needs extensive field work we will also institute spot improvisation on different locales. We have just mentioned in brief our activities and achievements for your kind information and consideration.
