AchieveMents: MAJOR ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN BY “STAR” ORGANISATION POFILE: “SOCIETY FOR TRAINING AMELIORATION AND RESEARCH” (STAR) started as a village level welfare organization in the year 1992. It is working for the development of rural youth, women, children and SC, ST communities by way of awareness, education, training and community programs in Dhenkanal district area. According to the plan and programme of the organization, some completed and on-going activities are given in detail below: 1. REPRODUCTIVE & CHIL HEALTH: To sensitize people on the issues related to health like antenatal and postnatal care, small family norm and population control, immunization, child survival, safe mother hood and education on HIV/RTI/AIDS/STDS awareness camps have been organized every year. 2. DEVELOPMENT & EMPOWERMENT OF ADOLESCENT: The women related violence gradually takes its jiant shape and the safety of the women day by day is at a stake. Moreover women have to go a long-way and hence, STAR has a strong attachment with the vulnerable women group to organize them, initiate them to fight collectively and equip them to utilize their best potentiality for the betterment of the society. 3. SANITATION PROGRAMME : With an aim to enhance the environment sanitation situation, STAR has initiated this program. Base line survey has been earned out in Joranda, Bainsia & Raitala G.P. of Fondia block to access the situation and need of the people. Village micro plan has also been develop in each and every village, according to the need. Low cost sanitary latrines have been constructed & distributed to 2500 BPL beneficiaries in the villages of 5 GPs. Like-Joranda, Bainsia, Raitala, Mathatentulia & Deogan of Gondia block under Dhenkanal district. 4. INCOME GENERATION PROGRAM: ‘STAR’ has extended support to unemployed and under employed families to engage themselves in viable ventures for sustainable increase in household income. For this sake it organizes vocational trainings on Garments making and provides IGP support to rural youth and women. 5. LIBRARY: To enrich one’s treasurer, reading books of interest is a vital importance. We should maintain ourselves study process. Keeping in view a documentation cell has been developed and equipped with qualitative books. It contains more than 1250 books which include books of history, culture, children literature, Novel etc. in Oriya, English and Hindi languages. 6. WOMEN LEADERSHIP PROGRAM: The societal domination over women had squeezed the opportunity for women to develop & exhibit their capability & leadership quality, Leadership workshop for Women Panchayati Raj Members has been organized by STAR.
