Major Activities and Achivements

Tellicherry Social Service Society (TSSS) reaches out to 25000 marginal farmers and their families living in Western Ghats coming under mountainous Malabar which is the most backward portion of Kerala. We also reach out to 1000 Specially Abled Children and Adults. With the farmers our focus is on organic food production to enhance food security and income generation. With 15000 women we promote saving and investment in small enterprises and with 400 children we have a scholarship scheme to encourage studies. Departmentwise 1.The formation and strengthening of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs): Under this we have Credit Union ( comprising men and women), Mahila Seva Sanghams, Women SHGs, Women Response forums, and Farmers’ Clubs 2.Family Development Program (FDP): envisaging a sound family for a sound society. Highlights: family to family support, family counseling , dowry free marriage bureau, Family Counselling Centre (FCC), sustainability through participation and empowerment, Community Wedding of poor women 3.Community Based Rehabilitation(CBR) of the Differently Abled and Persons with Mental Illness. Highlights: Medical camps, Meet of the physically challenged, Distribution of accessories, IGPs, Assistance for technical education and medical treatment. 4.Natural Resource Management(NRM): Promotion and preservation of natural resources and thereby contributing to the ecological balance and sustainable agricultural practices. Highlights: Watershed Development, Organic Farming, Rain Water Harvesting, Alternative Energy Sources, Sustainable Agriculture Development program, Biodiversity protection, protection of indigenous practices. 5. Entrepreneurship & Livelihood Development Program (ELDP): Empowering people to undertake viable micro enterprises with employment and income generating activities. Highlights: Cashew processing unit, Community shops, gramasree expos, Khadhi spinning, Making of notebook , umbrella, curry powder, eco friendly carry bags, envelopes, detergents. 6. Human Resource Development And Management (HRDM): The Central and Regional Resource Teams reach out to Sanghams and Disaster Vigilant Force is quick to act in times of disaster. Highlights: Trainings in EDP, PRA,PLA, Life Skills, Life Saving Skills, NRM 7. Community Health and Micro health Insurance includes health campaigns, medical camps ,Mediclaim insurance policy and HIV AIDS program : Public awareness medical and nutritional support to the infected and affected, SHGs, IGPs, educational support to children 8. Housing and Sanitation: Low cost housing and latrines ,mega cleaning operations with proper waste disposal management, Public awareness programs 9. Children Empowerment Program(CEP): Highlights: Balamithra (Children’s groups), Scholarship programs, school social work, career guidance, counseling, CHILDLINE, nature camps, vocational trainings. 10.Kerala Labor Movement(KLM): Organizing the unorganized sector with a view to creating employment opportunities and protecting their rights and upholding their welfare. 11.Vocational Training. Highlights: Govt. approved ITC, computer education , tailoring and embroidery, Books, Envelopes and Umbrella making.
