AchieveMents: VARDA is a grassroot level organization working tirelessly for the development of community in and around Palamau District, Jharkhand. It has crossed 10 years of voluntary service by supporting community in the field of education, health, hygiene and sanitation and livelihood promotion. As far as major achievement is concerned ââ¬â VARDA has established a formal school for poor and needy children and educating them since last 9 years. More than 500 children are being educated upto 8th standard. Apart from education, Physical psychological and mental developments of children are also taken care off. Around 2500 children of age group 6 to 14 years have been enrolled to government schools for continued education. VARDA has implemented various programs to bring improvement in the health status of women and children. More than 5000 rural women and children have been benefited by this health program. 120 SHGs have been formed and linked up with this health program to realize its benefits. Around 150000 rural populations have been fully acknowledged on the issues related to HIV AIDS. Apart from these activities like health and hygiene, safe water consumption, Environment conservation, Agriculture, Livelihood, etc has been supported a lot in improving the life of around 1500 families. Overall impact of the program and activities is quite effective. Majority of the women of the target areas are aware of HIV AIDS. Tremendous improvements in the health status of the target community are found. Women are empowered enough and actively participating to eradicate the community level social issues like ââ¬â Alcoholism, Child Abuse, Child labor, Witchcraft, Women Violence, Dowry, etc. The organization is working for the promotion and sustenance of the Tribal arts, & Culture. 1500 mixed fruit plantation has been done on community land to promote livelihood as an alternative source of income apart from agriculture. Community health services are being provided by the organization for the poor and marginalized people. Awareness has been brought up on health, hygiene, nutrition, safe delivery system, RCH, immunization, environment conservation, SGSY Training, Self Employment, Horticulture, watershed and modern agriculture farming and sanitation. In the field of convergence with government schemes majority of the target SHGs and their adult family members have been linked up with Job Cards, Maternity Benefit, Indira Awaas, Red and Yellow Cards Yozna. The organization has devoted team constituted of experts of Disaster management. It is often participating to support the sufferers of drought, famine and flood. Overall impact of the program and activities is effective and fruitful.
