Wayanad Social Service Society Key Issues and Operational Areas, Major Activiities & Achivements

AchieveMents: Natural Resource Management: We have completed two water shed programs under western gat and four water shed programmes funded by NABARD is going on. Further a Jalanidhi (Drinking water project ) project funded by World Bank was successfully completed as Koduvally of Calicut district. Organic Certification Programme Organic programme started in the year of 1999. 2000 registered farmers with 3500ha land, good marketing system by paying premium price to the farmers. A spice processing center is functioning for value addition of produces. The Society holds Spices Board certificate for exports CBOs: 750 SHGs are active under 60 federations with more than 40 small entrepreneurs. For promoting dairy 500 cows are being supplied every year by mobilizing local fund. Credit systems operated by the CBOs are reducing the financial instability of its members. Mediclaim insurance and jeevan Madhoor insurance programmes are being implemented. Legal Aid cell Supporting the poor and Marginalized people in the target areas. Awareness programmes for the tribal, amicable settlement outside the court, legal counseling are imparted. Alternative Energy: 200 bio gas plants are constructed every year for reducing carbon emission by using ferro cement technology. Alternative Health: Botanical conservation park, botanical museum, biodiversity park, herbal pants preservation park are situating in the premise of training center where 100 people can make residential training. Tribal Development programme: 7 panchayaths are being taken by the Society for implementing Tribal programme. Nabard is supporting for one panchayath
