AchieveMents: Women Anti-Drug Association in short WADA was established in 1996 and is one of the registered non-governmental organizations in Mizoram. It grew into a big organization and the State Government gave recogni¬tion to their activities and functions. It gave funding through Mizoram State AIDS Control Society (MSACS) to fight HIV and Drugs among Injecting Drug Users (IDU’s) of Lunglei and Hnahthial town and among Jail Inmates of Lunglei District Jail. The Organization also has a Treatment-Cum-Rehabilitation Centre funded by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MSJ&E), Gov’t of India. The Centre at present can accommo¬date 15 clients. The Centre gives a comprehensive program with a three-stage treatment consist¬ing of Detoxification, De-Addiction and Rehabilitation. It also tries to give patients a holistic care not only in terms of physical but emotional, mental and spiritual healing as well. It also provides them with vocational skills and when possible, a work place so as to make their rehabilitation within society easier WADA under the sponsorship of UNODC also have I-81 Project that aims at the care and support of the People Living With HIV/AIDS and G-86 Project to empower community on drugs and HIV/AIDS. Under the G-86 Project) SHG’s were formed and the members are from the target groups, the Ex-IDU’s and Ex-DU’s. All these SHG members are given training on the basic formation of SHG, micro Credits and linkage of SHG with the Banks two times in the year 2006 - 2007. Under this project, commercial sex workers are also contacted and given awareness about high risk behavior and various means and prevention to STD and HIV/AIDS, their rights and duties to their clients. In Feb 2006, A Peer Led Intervention Project (PLI) to help in reducing the risk of HIV/AIDS among drug users under Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses (SPYM)/DFID was also entrusted to the NGO. The organization also imple¬ments Maternal and Family Planning Intervention from April 2006, which deals with promotion of family planning, health and nutritional requirement amongst expectant mothers and child
